When white snowflakes fall from the sky, animals go into hibernation and the silence settles over the valley, winter has begun in Kiens-Chienes. Now things truly get going for winter sports enthusiasts! Steep slopes, perfectly prepared pistes and a stunning mountain backdrop – that is what visitors to the Kronplatz ski resort can look forward to. Südtirols-South Tyrol's number one wintersports area is just a 20-minute drive from Kiens-Chienes.

 

Ski touring enthusiasts will enjoy the freedom of being able to explore the many mountains in the region untouched by modern lifts. What could be better than walking up through a forest of pine trees covered in glistening white snow, then sitting down at a hut for a traditional meal and finally clipping back into your skis for an exhilarating powder descent?

Summer, sun, mountains - In the summer months, Kiens-Chienes not only enjoys wonderful temperatures, but also offers a wide range of outdoor activities.

 

Kiens-Chienes has a population of 2650 inhabitants and is located in the centre of the Kronplatz Dolomites Region, just a few kilometres from the largest town in the Pustertal Valley-Val Pusteria, Bruneck-Brunico. Its steep mountains and lush meadows make it a haven for hikers.

 

Popular hiking trails lead up to the Putzenhöhe and Kienberg mountains. What could be better than taking a breath of fresh mountain air on a hot summer day and enjoying a stunning view? In addition, alpine meadow cabins and refuges will spoil you with local delicacies to strengthen you during your trips. And for family holidays there are exciting themed hikes, so that hiking becomes a huge fun even for the very young.

 

If you are looking for a refreshing dive, the Issinger Weiher-Laghetto d’Issengo bathing pond or rafting in the Rienz river are the perfect places to go. Those with nerves of steel and a strong stomach can also visit the KronAction adventure park with its high rope obstacle course high above the ground. Don't look down!
