As muscles fight against gravity, tracks are dug into the soft forest floor and loose gravel – those who ride a mountain bike are looking for a physical challenge going up, where the lungs and legs wring every meter out of the path. That feeling of satisfaction on the summit, when the view suddenly becomes clear, is worth it all. A quick photo as proof, and then the riders courageously hurl themselves down the slopes again that they had just conquered.
Because of its ideal location, Chienes-Kiens is the perfect starting point for mountain bike tours. After all, the steep rock massifs of the Kronplatz region offer a proud 1,163 km (723 miles) of bicycle paths and mountain bike tours on which fans of the fat tires can joyfully wear themselves out.
For example, on the Cima Lasta-Astjoch Tour which, with its 1,440 meters (4,724 feet) of elevation change, is something for riders in great condition, just like the route that starts right in Chienes/Casteldarne-Ehrenburg and leads up to the Malga Moarhof-Moarhofalm.
Anyone who would like to explore the surrounding area on two wheels but has no desire for a long ride just to get to the starting point of the tour can be comfortably transported from place to place by the Bike Shuttle. And it will of course also pick up tired riders afterwards. The mountains around Chienes are waiting to be conquered, and as a reward, you can expect the knowledge and pride of having mastered the mountain.
