The ample meadows on the Cresta di Luson-Lüsner Kamm plateau offer a never-ending choice of hiking routes. This particularly stunning one from the hamlet Elle-Ellen up to Cima Lasta-Astjoch (2147 m) boasts a number of unrivalled panoramic views. The hike/snow-shoe hike is among the most rewarding in this part of South Tyrol: The views from the peak out onto the surrounding mountains are simply unforgettable.
Starting from the car park, follow trail marker no. 67 through the snow-covered alpine landscape of the Lüsen Ridge. The route initially climbs across gentle alpine meadows and light woodland sections, soon offering beautiful views of the Puster Valley and the surrounding mountains.
As the elevation increases, the trail continues through open terrain towards Astjoch. The wide alpine pastures and gentle slopes make this tour particularly enjoyable and varied.
After the final ascent, you reach Astjoch (2,194 m). The summit rewards hikers with an impressive panoramic view of the surrounding mountain ranges and is considered one of the finest viewpoints in the region.
The return follows the same route back to Ellen along trail marker no. 67.
This snowshoe hike follows mainly easy to moderately difficult winter trails and is suitable for experienced winter hikers and snowshoe walkers. Please check current snow, weather and avalanche conditions before setting out.
From Bruneck/Brunico, drive via St. Lorenzen/San Lorenzo towards Ellen. Continue along the road to the Kreuznerhof parking area above Ellen, which serves as the starting point of the hike.
