The circular hike starts in the village centre of Kiens. From here, follow trail no. 1 towards Issing. The route leads out of the village and continues along paved side roads and through meadows and woodland.
Continue on trail no. 6, following it uphill towards Irenberg. The route passes through peaceful woodland and follows natural paths and forest tracks up to Irenberg.
From Irenberg, continue along trail no. 8B, which leads downhill through forests and meadows. Further along, change to trail no. 8A and follow it towards Kiens.
Following trail no. 8A, you eventually return to the village centre of Kiens and the starting point of the circular hike.
The route includes a mixture of paved side roads, forest tracks, natural paths and woodland and meadow trails. Sturdy hiking shoes are recommended.
The hike is easily accessible by public transport. Take the train to Ehrenburg/Casteldarne railway station. From there, take village bus no. 423 or, during the summer months, hiking bus no. 426 to Kiens. Alternatively, bus no. 401 connects Bruneck, Kiens and Brixen. The starting point of the hike is located in the centre of Kiens.
From Bruneck/Brunico, follow the Pustertal Valley state road towards Brixen to Kiens/Chienes. From the Brixen/Bressanone/Pustertal/val Pusteria motorway exit, follow the Pustertal Valley state road towards Bruneck until you reach Kiens. The hike starts in the village centre.
Parking facilities are available in the centre of Kiens/Chienes.
Comfortable, sturdy hiking shoes with good grip and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Make sure to carry enough water and sun protection. Hiking poles can be useful, especially on uphill and downhill sections.
