From Kiens/Chienes, the trail climbs gently towards Issing/Issengo. It follows the stream through shady woodland and passes Bergila with its mountain pine distillery and herb garden. Here, the intense scent of mountain pine and various herbs fills the air, making this section a special experience.
Below Bergila, the rest area at Grünbach/Rio Verde with its Kneipp facility is the perfect place for a relaxing break. The cool water provides welcome refreshment, especially on warm summer days.
Continue along the trail beside the stream and through the forest towards Issing/Issengo and Issinger Weiher/Lago d’Issengo. The idyllic natural bathing lake is the destination of the hike and, in summer, is the perfect place for a longer break and a refreshing swim.
After your break at Issinger Weiher/Lago d’Issengo, return to Kiens/Chienes along the same route. The shady trail along the stream, the fragrant herbs at Bergila and the various opportunities to cool off make this hike particularly enjoyable on warm summer days.

The hike starts in the village centre of Kiens/Chienes. From here, walk uphill through the village, following the signs towards Issing/Issengo until you reach trail no. 1.
Following trail no. 1, a pleasant path leads uphill alongside the stream and through shady woodland. Along the way, you pass Bergila with its mountain pine distillery and herb garden. Below Bergila, at Grünbach/Rio Verde, there is a rest area with a Kneipp facility, ideal for a short and refreshing break.
Continue along trail no. 1 beside the stream towards Issing/Issengo. The trail leads through the forest and eventually reaches Issinger Weiher/Lago d’Issengo, the destination of the hike.
After a relaxing break at the lake and perhaps a refreshing swim in summer, return along the same route. Follow trail no. 1 past Bergila and along the stream back to Kiens/Chienes. From there, walk downhill through the village to the starting point in the centre of Kiens/Chienes.
The hike mainly follows a natural woodland trail along the stream, with short paved sections through the village. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
From Bruneck/Brunico, follow the Pustertal Valley state road to Kiens/Chienes. The starting point of the hike is located directly in the village centre.
