The Fundres/Pfunders massif offers a wide range of hiking options with anything from soft-rolling hills to steep slopes leading up to craggy peaks. Gorgeous excursions for both summer-time hikers and winter sports fans – all topped off by breath-taking 360° panoramic views.
From the car park, hike past the signs on the right and uphill through the forest until you reach the sledging track leading to the Moarhofalm inn. Take a right onto the sledging track and continue past the Moarhofalm inn. There, head uphill on the left side of the stream. About halfway up the slope, cross over to the right side and head for the large boulder. Then continue up the steep slope and into a wide valley basin. Keep right and hike up another two short slopes until you get to the frozen Rio Verde/Grünbach lake, all the while keeping a respectful distance to the steep western face of the nearby ridge.Snow conditions and weather permitting, take a right at the lake and hike up the steep face leading to the peak in narrow hairpin turns. Return along the same route.
From central Chienes/Kiens, head left towards Falzes/Pfalzen and left again at the crossing, continuing towards the hamlet Masi/Hofern and past the Waldruhe Hotel. There, take a right following the signs to the Moarhofalm inn and the Gelenke car park (4.7 km on a narrow mountain road), where you can leave your car.
